Frequently Asked
The following are general inquiries from callers about ODWIN's program.
-
Who may attend ODWIN?
Anyone who is at least 18 years of age and is interested in preparing for college, or is enrolled in college but need to build certain educational skills.
- Do you offer GED?
No, while ODWIN's program covers the English and math portions of the GED, we do not offer other subjects needed to acquire a GED. For this you will need to enter a GED program. Although, some students enrolled in GED programs will also take classes at ODWIN at the same time. If you do not know where to ask, please call us at 617-282-5320 and we can offer locations near you.
- What is your application deadline?
There is no deadline. Students can generally enroll throughout the academic year. However, advance courses begin in September and February.
- How do I enroll?
You enroll by signing up for an information session given every month during the academic year and more often during the summer.
- Do you take transferred credits?
No. And we do not give credits. We do diagnostically test each individual to determine what you need and how long we think that it will take you to complete a program to prepare you for college.
- When do classes begin?
Classes begin in September and end in January, and February ending in June. However, you can enroll in the individualized classes anytime if spaces are available.
- Do you offer ESL or ESOL?
No. However, we now offer an Accent Reduction course.
- Do you offer evening classes?
Yes, and as of September 2007 the schedule has expanded. We now offer Math and English Monday through Thursday evenings. Check the schedules page for more information.
- Do you provide tutoring?
We provide tutoring services to our students who are in college. We do not provide tutoring to high school students and generally not to individuals who did not prepare for college at ODWIN Learning Center.
- Can I enroll in just the study-skills or notetaking courses?
Only if our diagnostic tests indicated that this was the only help you needed.
- Do you offer prep for entrance exams?
We offer preparation not just for exams, but ultimately for success in college.
